Neurodivergent clients can experience and process the world in very different ways, yet many traditional hypnotherapy approaches are still based on assumptions about how people think, imagine, focus and respond to suggestion. Growing understanding of neurodivergence highlights the importance of moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and adapting hypnosis to the individual ways our clients process information.

NDHypno® practitioner training was developed around this understanding of cognitive and processing diversity, giving hypnotherapists a practical framework for recognising different processing styles and adapting their language, techniques and hypnotic approach to work more effectively with each individual client.

NDHypno® is made up of two complementary courses. The first explores how to create a genuinely neurodivergent-affirming practice, including the therapeutic environment, communication, assumptions and adaptations that can make therapy more accessible and responsive to individual needs.

The second introduces a completely new approach to neurodivergent hypnotherapy, moving beyond simply making therapy more affirming to explore how differences in processing can influence the way clients experience and respond to hypnosis. You'll learn how to identify different processing styles and adapt hypnotic language, techniques and interventions accordingly, creating a far more individualised approach to working with neurodivergent clients.

Client protocols for chronic pain hypnosis

Increasing numbers of people are discovering that they are neurodivergent later in life, often after years of adapting, masking or trying to make sense of why they experience the world differently. This is changing the clients we see in our practices and challenging many long-held assumptions about what autism, ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence look like. For hypnotherapists, it makes understanding neurodivergence—and knowing how to respond to individual differences in thinking and processing—more important than ever.

NDHypno® gives you the understanding and practical skills to work more effectively with neurodivergent clients, moving beyond diagnosis-led adaptations to a completely new approach based on individual processing styles and the ways these can influence how clients experience and respond to hypnosis.

Your training includes in-depth video lessons and written resources, an evidence-informed exploration of current pain science and the factors that can contribute to persistent pain, step-by-step session protocols, client intake forms and handouts, ready-to-use scripts, and practitioner-friendly marketing materials. Assignments are optional, and once you complete the course you’ll receive externally accredited certification. Dr. Claire Jack is also available throughout for support and guidance as you start using the Pain Rewired approach with clients.

Questions and Answers about Neurodivergent Hypnotherapy Training

What is neurodivergent hypnotherapy training?

Neurodivergent hypnotherapy training helps practitioners understand how autism, ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence can influence a client's experience of therapy and hypnosis. NDHypno® goes beyond making standard hypnotherapy more accessible, exploring how individual differences in thinking, processing, attention and internal experience can inform the way hypnosis itself is adapted.

What makes NDHypno® different from other neurodivergent hypnotherapy training?

NDHypno® introduces a distinctive processing-style approach to hypnotherapy. Rather than assuming that all autistic or ADHD clients think or respond in similar ways, the training helps practitioners identify individual differences in how clients process information and experience hypnosis. You'll learn to adapt hypnotic language, techniques and interventions around the person rather than simply around their diagnosis.

Do neurodivergent people experience hypnosis differently?

There is no single neurodivergent way of experiencing hypnosis. Some clients may think visually, others may rely more on words, sensations, concepts or patterns, while attention and absorption can also vary considerably. NDHypno® teaches practitioners to explore these individual processing differences rather than making assumptions based on diagnostic labels.

What does neurodivergent-affirming hypnotherapy mean?

Neurodivergent-affirming hypnotherapy recognises neurodivergence as part of natural human variation rather than approaching autistic or ADHD traits as something that automatically needs to be changed. This includes considering communication, sensory needs, the therapeutic environment and the client's own goals, while avoiding unnecessary pressure to conform to neurotypical expectations.

What will I learn in NDHypno® training?

NDHypno® combines two important areas of practitioner development. You'll learn how to create a genuinely neurodivergent-affirming therapeutic practice and how to adapt hypnosis around different processing styles. The training explores communication, sensory and environmental considerations alongside practical ways of adapting hypnotic language, inductions, suggestions and therapeutic interventions to individual clients.

Is NDHypno® only about working with autistic and ADHD clients?

No. Autism and ADHD are important areas within the training, but the underlying emphasis is on recognising individual processing differences rather than relying solely on diagnosis. The principles can help practitioners become more flexible in how they communicate and use hypnosis with a much wider range of clients whose thinking or processing does not fit traditional assumptions.

Who is NDHypno® neurodivergent hypnotherapy training for?

NDHypno® is designed for hypnotherapists and other appropriately trained therapeutic professionals who want to work more confidently and responsively with neurodivergent clients. It is particularly relevant for practitioners who want to move beyond basic awareness or lists of suggested adaptations and develop a genuinely individualised approach to hypnosis.

Can I complete NDHypno® training online?

Yes. NDHypno® is available as flexible, self-paced online training that you can complete around your existing professional commitments. The training also runs as a live workshop at selected times. If you would prefer to attend live, please get in touch to find out about upcoming workshop dates.
